Some light cloud about, but a beautiful pre dawn sky. Leo to the upper right with Saturn below and Coma Berenices to the left. I was hoping to see Mercury below but it will probably be a few days yet. The Moon in enhanced colour... And here's the man himself... Clear skies, Paul.

Nice shots Paul, good to see Saturn back! Depends what time you were looking for Mercury, it rises about 06:15. Nice shot of Orion, I seen it about 01:30 and it had just cleared the neighbour's roof. I love that big tree, very photogenic!

Thanks guys! John, those were taken around 0600 so just a bit too early for Mercury - it gets earlier each day for a while though, so I should catch a glimpse of it soon enough.

Some light cloud about, but a beautiful pre dawn sky. Hmmm, rather heavy cloud here, with intermittent showery rain. Did get a short clear period this morning but it was between 0900 and 1100 BST so the sky was a bit too light for observing anything but the Sun.

Lovely images Paul. The one with Orion framed with the trees is a beauty!.
I was looking out before dawn and seen Saturn. I was amazed how much Leo and Hydra had moved since I last seen them. Virgo is now rising out of the twilight arch. I didn't watch for any Orionids last night, which was a shame really, because it was clear for hours. I was tired and couldn't keep warm, even indoors. It was freezing outside. There might be more activity tonight though.
Hope you catch Mercury soon Paul.

I was tired and couldn't keep warm, even indoors. Much harder to warm up than to keep warm. Head, feet and hands need most attention espectially when it's windy. Core temp is easily maintained in reasonable conditions by taking a brisk 15 min walk.

My core temp was low and wouldn't rise. I really wanted to watch the meteor shower but felt I would become ill if I spent several more hours out in that chilly night. I did watch the sky through the window though. Might make up for it later. I'm focusing on the Taurids this year. There's a possible swarm encounter predicted by Dr David Asher.
