View from the north coast

Martin and myself went up to the coast again last night looking for the aurora. The activity subsided but we did still manage to get some nice scenes.

Great images Conor!, the two with Orion and the rocks/sea are beautiful. That was a fun night!

Great composition and a beautiful setting Conor. My favorite is Ursa Major rising out of the ruins. Lunarlight photography as I call it, gives one a lot to do when a Full Moon is otherwise disrupting skygazing. Great shots!

Thought I would add a few on here, I took too many to post, one can get carried away at times. Conor and I had a fabulous night, we learned one thing though - sometimes the moon can be too bright and ruin the potential, in this case it made the images look like day time even with short exposures and the stars where few in number so we didn't get the impact we wanted, however the experience of being on the rocks and near Dunluce Castle under the bright eerie moon was amazing, it felt like another world, truly magical. We will definitely return on a dark starry night. One thing is for certain, the compass points are perfect, any auroras, NLCs, or night storms are directly in line with the Castle and other interesting locations. So in a nutshell, this place has great potential.

These images just show how appealing and satisfying night time photography can be, Martin & Conor you have set the bar higher once again what can we anticipate next from you pair, I do think Coner deservers a medal for sitting on the edge there.

I somehow missed these Martin, a great set to follow up on Conor. Such a beautiful setting with such a vast expanse of horizon. As you mentioned, this would make a truely fantastic foreground for so many types of photographs. Look forward to your return when the Moon is a little less intense.

These are all excellent images Conor and Martin.   Conor, Orion rising up over the cliffs looks great and Martin the first image with the convection over the sea is nice-imagine a huge anvil there with a c-g strike hitting the sea!

It's a long, bouncy drop with either deep water or, if you're less lucky, jagged rocks at the bottom. Something the darkness probably conceals, but then it also makes it far more likely that you'll accidentally dive over the edge.

The image with orion and the boat is a favourite one for me do you remember  a few years back up hunting auora from that location

Thanks for the comments everyone!, lol yes we took some stupid risks to get images on those cliffs, if anyone knows the area like Brian does then you can appreciate how high and extremely dangerous the cliffs around Dunluce Castle really are, it got our adrenalin pumping that's for sure, luckily it was calm and we tested each bit of ground slowly and carefully before venturing out, it wasn't brave but it wasn't smart either lol - but we wouldn't have done it if there was a chance of sliding off, that would certainly be instant death I would imagine!, we don't like barriers or restrictions and will do what it takes to get an image 

Paul, some day we are going to get an anvil over there at night with c-gs - can't wait. 

Jonathan, yes we never forgot that night, in fact Conor and I were talking about that when we pulled up saying remember the night here with Jonathan, we saw an aurora and stunning Milky Way over the sea, that truly was a dark night and great adventure!
