I decided to rise a bit earlier (0545BST) to catch the trio of planets in a dark sky, I nearly got it but for the haze and the LP from Lisburn City. However it was quite a treat to see Mercury and Saturn so close together. I ran off a few shots and here is two of them. I didn't wait until proper daylight as I was wacked yesterday getting the car ready for MOT, so I was back in bed by 0645BST.

Great shots John. Mercury and Saturn are beautiful. As daylight was approaching this morning, Venus was just coming up over the mountains behind me, too far to drive to see them all proper.

Brilliant image John, love the warm colours too. They sure were a beautiful sight this morning. We got lucky with the clear weather.

Very nice John, especially #1 where you've caught the red sky before the blue takes over. Now this is obviously trickery, but the two shots making this up were shot at exactly the same pixel scale - ie with my C80ED 600mm refractor...

Nice shots John and Paul... There's another of those C80EDs on the forum I see... It's making me twitch for one...

John I agree with the others. You've caught a nice conjunction there with some lovely colours.
Nice shot Paul. I would think that most shots nowadays would involve 'trickery' at the processing stage. I was going to have a bash at last night's Moon/M35 conjunction but the sky had other ideas!

Very nice shots John and Paul! I had also set up an alarm clock today for 04:50 AM, but after a sucessful night (went asleep only at 03:30) I have slept through all of the alarms.

Wed might be a better choice John, because the crescent Moon is moving into that area in the days ahead and should make for a great scene.
