28th August - times approx
0522 - Discovery Launches from KSC
0530 - ISS passes over Ireland - a high pass
0540 - Discovery passes over Ireland - with tank below
0620 - Sunrise.
If the weather works out, and the forecast is encouraging, this will be an excellent photo-op!

I'll be having a go Martin - I'll be down in Newgrange which being further south gives a slightly darker sky and a higher pass of both spacecraft.

Great images everyone and congrats on Spaceweather.
Watched the launch live on NASA TV which was fantastic then headed outside with the camera. Entire sky was clear except for a large patch of cloud in the S, and you guessed it, that's where the shuttle passed through, so I never got to see it. Based on the July Shuttle and external fuel tank flyby I witnessed I'm sure you guys had a remarkable sight in that glorious pre-dawn sky.
Looking forward to the space chase now.

Thanks everyone! That has to be one of the most remarkable things I had ever seen. I too watched the launch live and waited until they were about 45 miles downrange and went out to set up the camera. The whole sky was clear apart from a big thick bank in the west which thankfully stayed there. After taking a few trial shots I waited to see how high the pass was when suddendly they appeared from behind the cloud bank. I could already see they were moving quite fast so I had to act quickly as well. All I got was three images two of which are above, but I found that being prepared was esential on this occasion. Sorry about the cloud Martin but perhaps you'll get the chase over the next few mornings.
