Went to my NLC vantage point this evening to try for Mercury and the Pleiades, and this is one of the images. Managed to pull the Pleiades from the twilight but had to wait until they dropped towards the horizon. Enjoy!

John, that's an impressive image, I really do like that. Both Mercury and M45 look great so close together and complimented by those two strips of cloud which really add to the scene. The lights below show the location of the horizon very nicely. Great job! I went for a single wide angle image while Bats flew around me...without Mercury

Nice shots Guys. I can't get high enough to get a view to the west, and the last few nights the west has been obscured in murk at and after sundown.

Some lovely shots gents. BTW there is another photographic opportunity tonight as the Moon is passing about 2° south of the Beehive (M44). I see that Dave Mitsky has now uploaded his celestial calendar for May so I shall update our calendar here from it later this evening as the sky here is pretty cloudy.

Thanks Andy for the heads up, didn't know about that one, will give it a go later if it stays resonably clear.

Spent from sunset until 23.00 looking for Mercury and M45. A dark cloud over the Sperrins covered the pair the entire time while the sky was clear all around. By the time the cloud drifted away they had both set. Very frustrating. Got one capture of Mercury earlier in the session in bright twilight when a brief gap opened in the cloud but it isn't worth posting. Nice night though. The Bats where out in force again.
