Indeed, it was getting worse rapidly from the time I awoke - as well as the high altitude stuff there a thick fog coming off the sea and I think it was probably the Larne foghorn that woke me.

Saw the ISS pass before retiring - that was a good high bright one. It would have been a good night to stay out late, but work gets in the way!
