Hi there

As promised here's the photograph I took the same morning as the window shot, I called it Morning Fire.

There was an electric wire running across the image behind the branches of the tree which I removed with Photoshop.

Hi there

Looking at the collection of wonderful photographs on the site, for those of us who are quite new to photography it might be helpful to add the photo information underneath the shot, 1.2sec at f/16 with a 50mm lens, for example, as it might help some of us get better shots.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Number 3 is just the same as number 2, just a little longer on the exposure.  Number 4 was taken at work, I had to be in early one morning and I was bored, saw the effect on the window and was lucky to have my camera with me.

I have another taken the same morning, I'll dig it out and download it.

Hi there

Seeing as the great weather has given me plenty of time to go through my old photos and I came across these, I took them some years ago and I thought you might like them.

I think what one of the more frustrating aspects of the recent weather is the way that for some nights the sunsets look beautiful, the sky begins to take on that dark blue colour and even the brighter stars start to appear.  The moment a piece of astro equipment appears outdoors the clouds rush in and covers everything.  It has now got to the stage where I'm reluctant to set up the tripod for fear that the moment the scope is mounted the stars will vanish.

I play golf, though not often enough to get any better at it - only after I accepted that I am never going to win the open did I really start to enjoy it.

You gave up too quickly! Grin

There's nothing wrong with these guys liking Barbie, it's when they develop an overenthusiastic interest in Ken that we should worry.

Golf takes up time in the summer, it's my form of self flaggelation.
I like to tickle the keyboard, not the musical one, the writing one.
Just recently got into photography.
I'm a big fan of the outdoors and like nothing better than a hike in the hills.

Hi all

I'm Paul from Dublin, been an astronomy buff for 20 some odd years, had a variety of scopes over those two decades and still I want more.

I'm looking forward to chatting and contributing to the site and hope it's a great success.

A couple of questions for Paul, can we submit sketches to the photography forum?

And where is the Oakland Raiders avatar?  I know they are a terrible team but some of us like them. Grin

Hi Paul

Great to see a new forum set up as it gives me some more places to chat about what we love, astronomy, photography, etc., and what we hate, the weather.

Thanks for this.
