Title: Moon & M45 Post by: John9929 on November 21, 2010, 10:47:06 pm Got a few images of the conjunction between the moon and M45 earlier, these were the best as it was so difficult with the bright moon. The third image seems to be some sort of moon piller, it's not an optical effect as it was visible to the eye as well.

Title: Re: Moon & M45 Post by: martinastro on November 22, 2010, 05:44:15 pm Ahhh, very nice indeed!, the first image is beautiful, I love everything about it, the quality of light and colour with the blacks is really magical. The drifting clouds really set it off with the contrast and depth. :)
Can see those pillars on the last one, there must have been ice crystals falling from those clouds, almost looks like virga. Title: Re: Moon & M45 Post by: hal2000 on November 22, 2010, 07:52:57 pm Top class John. No. 1 is superb.
Title: Re: Moon & M45 Post by: Anton on November 22, 2010, 08:26:13 pm Excellent images there John, the motion in the clouds on the first one really do enhance the entire picture, the Seven Sisters look great with the Moon.
Thanks Anthony Title: Re: Moon & M45 Post by: jjb on November 22, 2010, 09:26:43 pm Very nice set of images John.
Title: Re: Moon & M45 Post by: John9929 on November 22, 2010, 10:33:12 pm Thanks all for the kind comments, it was one of those images where everything went wright for a change, the clouds worked in my favor as well. It's a pity though I didn't get an image of me taking it, nothing on but pullover/trousers and slippers, and nearly burned my tea as well. The things we do for an image.

Some real stunners there and a great example to illustrate that clouds are not always the bane for us amateur astronomers.
