Title: Stars from a view point
Post by: jjb on October 31, 2010, 08:48:15 pm
Well  to be more precise from the knockagh monument overlooking belfast lough it really does show how bad the lights of the city are from an astronomers point of view.
the first image is of the iss coming over divis mountain and fireworks going off in the fore ground, the rest are of the monument itself and looking northwards towards carrick and the mouth of the lough.

Beautiful set of photos Jonathan. I especially like the shot of the nighttime Milky Way sky looking up at the Knockagh Monument, that's an exceptional view. That is a very tough sky for observing, but the views somewhat make up for it in a way. Thanks

They're all brilliant shots Jonathan, especially like the ISS transit and the second one of the monument that Richard mentioned-great stuff.

Lovely set Jonathan, I really like the first one with the ISS entering the Earth's shadow. Look at all the LP though no wonder the astronomers in Belfast can't see the stars!

These are great images Jonathan!, the 1st and last really stand out to me, you can really sense the height of the mountain, the stars and ISS look great above the bed of city lights, a place of contrasting worlds!, nice one catching the fireworks too  :)
