Love the Lentie in the first one, what are the snow-capped mountains in the second one right hand side, are those the Sierra's? Stunning images!
Title: Re: Eastern Sierra, Southern Cascades Post by: Paul on May 05, 2009, 09:15:21 pm I agree with John, they're absolute cracking shots Richard, conveying the sheer size of the country - that waterfall is a beauty and the Lenticular Top on Mt Shasta is just breathtaking!
Title: Re: Eastern Sierra, Southern Cascades Post by: rjgjr on May 05, 2009, 10:28:53 pm Thanks for the comments. Those Mts. on the right in the second image are the 14,000 ft White Mts., about 50 miles away. That's where the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest is located. When I lived in California I spent many summers backpacking and camping in the Sierras, has to be one of my favorite areas.

Title: Re: Eastern Sierra, Southern Cascades Post by: Tyler on May 07, 2009, 06:58:43 pm Just stunning images Richard! you've done a great job. May I ask if #2 and #3 are stiched panoramas? Loving the waterfall, good work with the slower shutter, really makes it twice as beautiful.
Glad to see shasta again too! been what, 7 years since I've seen it! Can't believe its been 7 years since I've lived in Sacramento. The sierra's are definitely near the top of my places to go, especially back to the lake tahoe area, its just amazing up there. Thanks for posting these Richard, it was nice to see a familiar site on these forums :) Title: Re: Eastern Sierra, Southern Cascades Post by: rjgjr on May 08, 2009, 03:50:27 am Yes Tyler, I did forget to mention that 2&3 were stiched from 2 images each. I had actually stiched 3 together but it didn't really fit well on the forum page. We actually came home on the east side of Shasta because I've never seen it before, always from Interstate 5. But it was cloudy and rainy most the way from Susanville. Maybe next time. Looking forward to seeing some wide angle star images with you're new lens!
