Title: Daytime Moon and Lunar "X"
Post by: Paul on April 02, 2009, 06:25:30 pm
Got home just in time to catch the "X" at the end of its apparition, and also took a two-shot composite of the First Quarter Moon - I hope to be mosaicing later!

Here they are...

I see no "X" ?

Anyhoo I was out this afternoon & imaged the Moon - with WO 110mm refractor, 820nm infra red filter & DMK41 webcam. Seeing was rotten but this is the result (two image mosaic, taken at f/7 prime focus) 1448 UT 02 Apr 2009

About 40% of the way down the terminator. Compare with this APOD.....

Mine's towards the end of the apparition and starting to lose its shape.

In fact Brian, being earlier than me, you have it better than me on your image!

Congratulations gents. Unfortunately my sky clouded over rather quickly last night so I never got a chance to the the 'X'.
