Here is M45 open cluster with the Merope Nebula IC 349, altogether 2 hours exposure with 24 x 5min subs on a Canon 40D fitted with cls clip-in filter on a Takahashi 180ED:

Beautiful shot Malcolm! Are the diffraction spikes a feature of the Takahashi or added in software?

Thanks Paul. The Tak 180ED has vanes to hold the secondary mirror, hence the spikes.

That is a beautiful image Malcom! Such wonderful nebulosity. I can see it takes a lot of work to get an image like that. Great stuff.
