I hope  this  is the right forum for these and not photography. I took them this morning. I passed the sun  rays coming through the trees on my way to the hill ,not the one in the other photos ,turned round and drove back and was fortunate to still get a couple of shots. Rays like this are a first for me.

I forgot these two . For the first one  I got the settings right and went into the  road ,took  the photo  and ran back to the side and lived to post it. Not to be recommended. lol. I took the photo of the sun and the fog at the cliff edge just through that gateway. The trig point tells me how far this and that town is  away from here but not the height I was at -  about 900 feet I think.

That's a lovely selection of images John, No 1 is a real cracker. What sort of exposure are you using to get those rays?

Superb collection of images John. It's really hard to pick a fave, but I'd say 1 and 3.

Excellent photos John, you were fortunate to have time to go back and catch the rays, conditions like that can change quickly and usually don't last long. The one of the country road is incredible, it belongs on a magazine cover for sure.

Many thanks - much appreciated. I had an idea recently that I would get photos each month  then I would put a calender together at year's end. I must make sure I continue with that idea..I'd forgotten about- it ,already lol. until I came on here this morning and saw them again.I have a friend who does this and he sells them in his local shops on a sale or return basis. I'm not very enterprising tbh - What other people would sell, I give away- hopefully to someone who's struggling .I'll never be a millionaire that's for sure.lol.

So... John asks about the settings.

The first one with the large tree . I used the Canon 24-105 f4  at 70mm. I was in Aperture priority @ f14 and of course that sorted  out the shutter speed which shows as 1/1000 sec.  The ISO was 200 (Brian said up it ,so I did lol) The  I used the tripod and cable release. I think I must have been about 15 metres from it.

The second sun ray  photo. was pretty much the same but the speed was 1/200sec. and 24mm focal length. - the widest aperture for the 24-105. If anyone is considering a mid-range lens this one is superb and is well acclaimed in the photo. world. It's f4  IS and an L series.

For those with Photoshop or similar all my settings can be viewed ,the exif data is there . I must try and remember to put the info. under the photo.  because I don't have the software to do what John does and include it in the border .
The only regret I have about all these photos is that I didn't start   several  years ago . Never mind.

Lovely crisp shots there John - I actually felt a chill just looking at them!

BTW, they're just fine here - we're not too fussy about what goes where in reality.

Outstanding John. Those are wonderful, beautiful and chilling works of art. A true collection of Winter wonders. The photography is professional in standard. The fog rays are stunning, B&W is haunting, and the one with the white trees over the road is a stunner. The gate is perfect, and the 5th one is perhaps my fav!! Enjoyed those!!  Smiley

Oh, lovely job - many thanks, again. I'm afraid it's back to dreary skies now.

For anyone that wants to see it, your EXIF data is embedded in the image. You either need opanda exif viewer for the PC or if your on a mac there's a variety of options available, I just searched for mac exif viewer in google. As to embedding it in the border, I'm using BorderFX with Aperture, for Lightroom there's LR/Mogrify, and there's a script for PS floating about somewhere, I'll see if I can't dig up the linky.
