Today I've noticed an excessive amount of altostratus and carried out a little photo session at the river bank. But I didn't see any of these phenomena visually (simply I didn't pay too much attention to the sky). I came home, looked at the LCD screen of a camera and... wow Shocked I saw the upper tangent arc in one of the images. When I watched them on computer I revealed 4 frames with the UTA, medium-bright sundogs, and barely visible halo between them. That is a first my experience of such kind.

Congratulations Roman on your first complex halo display. That's a very good UTA on the images with the upward pointing horns!. You have a sun pillar there too. Nice glitter path over the river  Smiley

Thanks Martin. Do you think the first image is worth to post it to Spaceweather?

It's worth a go Roman. Tony can't use them if he hasn't got them  Smiley.  No harm in sending them in, there's nothing loose and everything to gain!

I was going home from studies on Thu (Mar.11) evening and observed the best sun halo (&dog) I have ever seen!  Smiley
The halo existed from 16:33 to 17:10 EET - that's pretty long time! There was plenty of As in the sky, and the Sun (lower in W) was hidden behind Cu clouds.
The halo was up to 70% visible (not obstructed), very broad, bright and colourful, just like a faint rainbow. The several haloes which I have seen before were much fainter and almost colourless. It would be looknig amazing in the photo, unfortunately I had no camera in handy  Cry
Later (ca. 16:55 EET) I was riding a bus, and I had a short glimpse on the W horizon - WOW! - I saw an extremely bright sundog very low in the sky (3...5o), just above the photogenic buildings of the city center, and in front of the beautiful orange-pinkish background of the sunset sky!... I even don't remember precise colours of the sundog - it seemed to be orange or mildly red to me, and how bright it was!

Well, I can definitely say it was the best opportunity I ever had. ...and opportunities like this one always happen when you had no camera with you... it's very sad...
But never mind, I photographed it visually...  Wink

Isn't that a sun dog  in the last photo just above the trees and half an inch from the side  ? I see colours.

Sure it is. But the sundog which I seen last Thursday was much and much more brighter, just cannot compare to one I seen in December.

Lots of Cirrus this evening in Poltava - and beautiful atmospheric optics as result!  Smiley
It was near 16:40-16:55 EET. At first I saw a bright sundog to the right of the Sun. Then for a few minutes I wasn't looking at the sky, but a bit later I've noticed a very bright & colourful UTA! I've never seen it so bright and for such a long time (>10 minutes). Have captured a few shots through a bus' window, will upload it later.
