John - those are lovely images. I love that coloured one, you have the colours spot on. BTW, that large crater at the very bottom is Bailly, 180 odd miles across.

Thanks John. I was using my new Astro Toy... a C80ED, it's the first time I've been able to get the colours pulled out.

They are very impressive hand held or otherwise but to get those images hand held is a great achievement- you must have a very stable technique.

I believe that the moon is  at its   nearest distance  (perigee ?) for 15 years tonight at 221,595 miles away,  14% larger and 30% brighter  and the Geminid shower, 100 per hour,  will put in an appearance  too but we have total cloud cover here. Ugh!

Thanks John, Sorry the original post is misleading, The 250mm shot is handheld. The 1200mm shots are on the C80ED mounted on the NexStar SLT, I really don't think I could handhold the scope for anything, forget imaging, combined weight with the camera is 2.5kg.

I've been reading that, but of course, the clouds are here and looking to stay.

Stunning John. That coloured Moon image is perfect. Spot on exposure, focus, and with just the correct level of saturation enhancement to bring out the colours. You should send a few of those into SW. Great stuff  Smiley
