I'm envious that you guys got to grow up and experience first hand the excitement of the Apollo era. It must have been an incredible time. I wonder if the future missions to the Moon and Mars will meet the thrill of those first days of exploration?

Thanks for the link John!

The time of Apollo was a great time to be alive! It's 40 years in few days since Apollo 8 made the first journey to the Moon and that was when, as a 7 year-old schoolboy, I first became interested in Astronomy and Space Exploration.

Apollo 17 was the last of the Moon missions but they built the spaceships for Apollos 18,19 and 20 - some parts got recycled into Skylab and some survive here on Earth. Here is my photo, taken in 1995, of what is posted as Apollo 18 though really is different parts of different Apollos. This is at the Johnson Space Center near Houston, Texas.

Enjoy!

Paul.
