Seconded. That's a splendid article on a subject on which Martin is becoming an acknowledged expert!
Nice job, well done.
Paul.

Thanks very much Tyler. Les Cowley from atmospheric optics must have sent those over to Tony. Les and I have been corresponding for many days on the Moonbow subject which was fascinating. I have Les to thank for the SW mention, and Tony for his interest. I only sent it over to Les for a bit of fun, I didn't think much of it until he told me it's probably a record. So now I will take up his challenge and try and beat it . Thanks again for the post. Thanks Paul. I feel embarrased by the 'expert' part. I was just lucky. Cheers

Thanks very much guys. John, it was a moonbow which formed from the feeble light of a last 1/4 Moon. It was thought that a Moon around full phase was needed for their formation. According to Les Cowley, no images exist showing a moobow born from that set-up. That was news to be at the time, I didn't know it. Here's a link to the image on my site... http://www.nightskyhunter.com/MB%2018-18.html

Thanks for the info Martin. Often best not to know about these rules in advance, that way it's always worth a try V cool pic.

Les Cowley emailed me last night and said that the moonbow image got 7000 hits. The other news he told me was that the record was now beat by someone else! Check out his OPOD in Friday. So now I will try and beat this new record. This is turning into a sport!
