Lovely images Richard. There's nice 'purity' to those images. The light level/colour looks very nice. As a person interested in storms I was very much drawn to those cbs in the images dropping rain over the Ocean. Did any of them produce a storm?, in any case they look fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

Hello Martin,
As I'm sure you know quite a bit about storm fronts, these along the west coast of the U.S. rarely produce big thunderstorms as elsewhere. The air is just too cold with no warm air to lift that produces the monster thunderstorms of the Midwest U.S. These cloud burst bands usually just produce intense downpours after the cold fronts have moved through. Just alot of rain and wind gusts. I've personally recorded 9.5" of rain in 24 hours and wind gusts of 105mph. Just normal Oregon Coast winter weather. Last year I had 131" of rain, though our average is closer to 80". I enjoy yours and all the others photos on the website. Take care.

Thanks for the info Richard. I didn't know the synoptic set-up for your location so I have learned something new about the lack of lift in that coastal part of the states. In any case, those showers/downpours look great and the wind gusts you recorded are very powerful. I bet you get some really dramatic scenes along that coastline!. The cb in image three looks very similar to the cold air convection kind we get here in Ireland at this time of year. Thanks. Great sunset image. It almost looks like it was taken from orbit

Thanks for the input gentlemen. The sunset shot was taken from my back deck. I've seen many photos of Ireland and the surrounding areas. It is an extremely beautiful country. The one thing I would compare coastal Oregon to Ireland is they are both very green. Love all your photos and thanks again!
