Hardly ideal conditions here this evening but still managed to catch the first of a run of early evening pass's of the ISS and Shuttle. It was low and short, only about 18 degrees altitude, and it entered the Earth's shadow due south which I managed to catch. It was nice to think there is ten astronauts up there at present!

Nice catch John!. I'm impressed that you got it with all the severe weather.

No chance of seeing it from here this evening. Fingers crossed that the shuttle will undock soon for a space chase.

Thanks guy's, it was really quite a challenge as it was so low, but at least this meant that I was in the shelter of the hedge top of the garden. At one stage, about ten minutes before it was due it look unlikely I was going to see it, then that wee gap opened. This was the only image I got!

This is one of the two images I got tonight (24th) of the ISS. You will notice that there is an interloper there as well. Not sure what that is but it was too bright for the toolbag, and in any case we'er not supposed to see it until the 26th. If anyone can find out the exact time was 18:52UT. I have just noticed it is on the other image as well. About 30 seconds after this was taken the ISS went into the Earth's shadow. The satellite continued and went into the shadow just as it left Pegasus!

Very nice John and an interesting imposter there. Could it be a random sat which chanced to be in the same location?, looks to be on a different orbit from the station. Looks dramatic in any case!  Smiley

I seen the second ISS pass tonight but it was very poor from here.  Briefly bright (and slightly red in colour) before fading rapidly as it entered the Earth's shadow. Fabulous clear evening but showers arrived after 19.00. Stars are back out again though.

Thanks guy's, I don't know, I checked HA but it's not there. Anyway, at that time of the evening there's loads of satellites about, so it could be any of them. It does seem to be on a different orbit.
