For those who haven't visited, www.nightskyhunter.com is Martinastro's personal website showing his observations with excellent commentary and insight. I am particualrly impressed with today's update which shows verious Moonbows - including something I've not seen before - the Double Moonbow! Very nice catch Martin, well done! Paul.

Paul, thanks very much for the mention!. I have got a few more from the following morning (might try again this evening) which I'm putting together onto an image account. When I get it finished I will put a few images and a link up here. Keep an eye out this evening for bows from the waning full Moon - IF we get the showers in time. Good luck, and thanks again for the mention. That double bow sure was a rareity. I'm always on the look out for this elusive phenomena. I still maintain that they look very haunting with the naked eye.

Thanks very much Roman, I'm glad you liked those. Hopefully it will encourage others to get out and look for them because they really are amazing 'in the flesh' so to speak. It's a worthwhile pursuit for any photographer because there are not many images of true moonbows on the internet, so getting images of a rare phenomena is more than tempting. Most of the moonbow images on the net are actually lunar spray bows when bows form on waterfalls. True moonbows from showers are more rare. I'm hoping to get more and more images of this lovely phenomena in the hope of capturing a unique image. I'm planning on catching a Moonbow with an aurora, NLCs, or lightning in the same image. That would really be something never seen before! I have also never captured a lunar fog bow either. So this is something I would like to add to the list. Moonbow/spray bow http://www.2geton.net/martin/moonbow/moonbow.htmlhttp://www.atoptics.co.uk/fz127.htm (these are the best bows I have seen to date) Another from Les Cowley's site http://www.atoptics.co.uk/rainbows/moonbow.htmThis one is an absolute beauty http://www.atoptics.co.uk/rainbows/bowim51.htmLunar fogbow http://www.atoptics.co.uk/droplets/fogmoon.htmSpeaking of rare images. Have you ever seen a steamnado or steamdevil? Check out these images by Mike Hollingshead. I wonder if it's possible to get these here on Lough Neagh? http://www.extremeinstability.com/08-8-29b.htm

Very nice links to moonbows, thanks. And the fogbow is looking scary to me I have never seen those steam-phenomena, they're looking very strange. Mike H. is surely the leader! he always has some breathtaking images.
