The weather was a wonderful sight today thanks to the unstable air mass descending over. Sky was filled with wonderful huge cbs with nice anvils and countless mammatus displays. All combined with a nasty chill which made photography painful, literally. Many showers of sleet and hail dropped from the cells. Here's a few snaps taken with numb red hands.

A gust front which passed over my house on a large cell. Heavy sleet from it, dark too.

Had a seemingly endless succession of those here for the last 10 days ... until this morning when, despite the forecast, it looks like a solid sheet of nimbostratus. Thermometer reads +2.8C but the precipitation is light rain - and the force of the wind has dropped. Suspect that a polar cyclone is mixed in with the arctic air flow.

Extremely heavy snow falling here now Brian. Absolute white out - just like mid Winter. Amazing.

Continuous rain stopped, wind back to force 6, sky breaking back to low grade convective with minimal breaks.
