I wouldn't normally buy Amateur Photographer unless there's a review of something I'm interested in, but this week was an exception. There are well worth reading articles on getting exposure right which covers the different types of metering, histograms, a bit about digital "tricks" like Sony's DRO and HDR - also there's a separate article covering the black art of white balance which is also worth a read. Other magazines are available  |

Thanks for the info Paul. I've never purchased any photography magazines before but I was thinking about it. There seem to be so many in the shops. What would you rec?
I heard that the new edition of 'Astronomy Magazine' has a special section on the climate and storm chasing. Worth getting if anyone is interested in this field.

They're interesting shots Stevie. I have mixed feelings about HDR as it's hard to get right and to be frank some of those shots there display every defect that occurs when it's wrong, but #2 gets it spot on - that's what HDR is for!

You would be right Paul, they can look bad but it all depends on what you want from your shots and how you process them, Photomatix can make them overly done!! I like #2 as well.

Very interesting stuff. Are there any online tutorials on how to do this?. Your 2nd image is a excellent and being a weather photography nut I love the skyscape over the Sea. Very effective...and different!
