I spent the entire night an the north coast hoping to see an early NLC display or distant storms over the ocean however all was quiet. It was however a beautiful night so I took images of Dunluce Castle with the blue twilight sky reflecting on the sea with stars aloft. The latter two images are 60 sec exposures. This is looking directly N so amazing photo potential for NLCs over the castle. Saw a fireball over the castle, green head with long orange tail, it was a beauty but was above my frame. Tinypic resizing kills image quality so check out my site for larger versions.

The light trail in the last one is from a distant fishing vessel

Great shots Martin, that will definitely be a prime spot for NLC's when the time comes.

Thanks Richard and Mark, getting a 'proper' NLC display over that castle would make for a remarkable image...I also want to get night lightning over/behind it too and star trails....I hope to catch an NLC display or two over the castle over the next two months....but fuel is expensive!!  Smiley

Great images Martin will have another look when I return home, currently down on the Cornish coast with limited phone and GPRS signal.

That's a great location,Matin. You've featured it a few times at different times of the day and night and given us some wonderful shots-wouldn't a CG look great there. I thought I needed to know about this castle so here's the history http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunluce_Castle#History
