After what seems like a month of cloudy skies, we finally had a break last night and I was able to do a little observing with the scope and some wide angle photography. The Orion and Canis Major region is sure starting to look good at a resonable hour and I enjoyed hopping from area to area taking in all they have to offer. Back to clouds and rain for New Years Eve!

This is a 12 image mosaic, 50mm 10 sec f/2.2 1600 ISO of the region and M 41 shows very nicely just above the tree tops below Sirius. A Happy New Year to all and may the coming year bring peace and friendship to everyone!

That's a stunning image Richard!  I can only dream of such dark skies like that in the English midlands.  Smiley

Lovely capture Richard - even more so with M41 looking so prominent.

Lovely image Richard, I haven't seen the stars in a long time but this one makes me want to get back out there under a clear sky.
