Two shots of the crescent moon this afternoon taken with a Sigma 70-300mm lens at 300mm through a double glazed window. Age 1.98 days, faint earthshine visible in the second image. It will be with you shortly Richard Wink

Great shot John!  There's something nice about those really thin crescents, they always look good! Smiley

Two great shots John, considering you were in the warmth of your home snapping away. Very dramatic with the cirrus clouds and tree, and really like the hint of earthshine in the second, really makes you look for it. I would love some shots like that but I have horizontzl rain and gale force winds at the moment, suppose to be like this all week!.

Thanks very much lads glad you like them. The crescent moon is always a big draw with me. I was a bit disappointed that the earthshine was so faint as I love to try and bring out the features. However the moon in this case was fairly low and that tree was on the horizon and I knew once it was behind that well session over. Pity about the wind/rain Richard I was hoping you might get the difference time wise, maybe again. It's too cold to stay too long as we have about -12 here at the minute and could go much lower.

Good result there John. It was a nice sight here early yesterday evening against a blue & cloud-free sky.
