This was the most atmospheric event I have experienced during 2010 so far. On Nov 26th and 27th I watched amazing thundersnow lightning displays over E Ireland for many hours. These storms where over the Irish Sea moving down the North Channel and flickering away with blue and orange lightning while dumping snow all through the night making them the most siginificant thundersnow storms in Ireland for years. The first 4 images are from Glenshane Pass showing a distant thundersnow cell 50-60 miles away to the E captured from high ground with car trails on the main road. The 4th has the flash triggered to show the falling snow.

Images 5-10 where also taken from Glenshane later with Conor when brilliant convection and thundersnow storms erupted in the same area, we shot this scene in snow-covered marsh ground in severe temps. The remaining images where taken from Maghera during the early morning hours as the lightning continued. It was an amazing night with lightning, moonlit snow, freezing temps, bright stars and distant cells. All images are time exposures. I just wish  I had been closer to the action. This was a night I will not forget in a hurry. More info with bigger images are on the image report on my site...

Marvelous report Martin!  Some real cracking images here with the storms with the huge anvils and the image that you fired the flash works a treat.  Great exposure on the last two images, the countryside is beautifully lit by the moon reflecting off the snow.  Smiley
