Storm Forecast
Valid: Fri 26 Nov 2010 06:00 to Sat 27 Nov 2010 06:00 UTC
Issued: Thu 25 Nov 2010 15:32
Forecaster: TUSCHY
SYNOPSIS and DISCUSSION
A cold and extensive upper trough is placed over Europe, assisting in the advection of a cold and dry air mass, which covers all of Europe (beside the southern most parts). Any convective activity will be bound either to some moisture source (oceans) or to spots where a combination of favorable diurnal heating, some BL moisture and very cold mid-levels exist.

Otherwise, an extensive low probability thunderstorm area was issued for a few short-lived thunderstorms over parts of NW Europe.

Yeah, but here they're a mix of rain & hail. Lots of them & beefy though; the roads could be "interesting" when it freezes overnight.

Heavy snow showers on and off here all day and still ongoing, white dusting on ground and slippery roads. Saw a beautiful cell dropping snow this afternoon far away to the N with mammatus at the back, it was a beauty. There should be thundersnow tonight in places, already sferics over Irish Sea and Scotland. At dusk I could see big cells/showers over the N and NW coasts from Maghera which looked quite a sight. It's been a very good photogenic day with all that cold air convection and great lentis and irridescent cloud. Slieve Gallion and the mountains to my E and NE are covered in snow. Hoping for some daylight photo opps and optics on Sat and Sun, great weather for using the camera - if you can stick that horrendous wind chill and bitter temps..brrr

Just back from a cool photo shoot on Glenshane with Conor in snow, severe frost, and freezing fog, we watched beautiful night time convection/cells/storms surrounded by stars with lightning flashing from them to the SE from a line of storms over the Irish Sea (thundersnow) - magical scenes lit by the Moon. Back roads are unbelievable!! - scary
