TORRO CONVECTIVE DISCUSSION 2008/016

A TORRO CONVECTIVE DISCUSSION has been issued at 10:05GMT on Friday 11th July 2008 Valid from/until: 10:05GMT - 18:00GMT on Friday 11th July 2008 for the following regions of the United Kingdom & Eire:

Central and eastern Wales

England south of a line from the Mersey to the Humber, excluding Cornwall.

THREATS

Weak tornadoes, hail, gusty winds, CG lightning, torrential rain.

SYNOPSIS

Deep trough will move SE across the area through today, with marked wind shift line/convergence zone. Sufficient instability for showers/thunderstorms, as well as fairly steep low-level lapse rates suggest that a few weak tornadoes may be possible.

Lack of storm organisation due to weak shear suggests that a WATCH is not needed.

Forecaster: RPK
