I just saw the most stunning sunset rainbow this evening at 18.00 when a heavy shower passed through. It was pound for pound the best example I have ever seen so far with huge complete prim and secn bows, sn arcs, rich orange and red colours, and great precip/cloud structure near the arcs, it lasted a long time too. I was at home so only could take images from the back door, these don't even come close to how good this looked to the naked eye, I had the family and a relation out watching it, each of them was amazed by the sight. I think I'm overdosing on bows, this was the last of many stunning examples all afternoon not to mention 4 or 5 moonbows seen on the previous night. The first image is the shower approaching from the N. The weather was very active today with thunderstorms in England which produced two possible tornados.

Those are some very intense colors. That's one of the brightest secondary bows I think I've ever seen. As you said, it must have been really something in person!

Thanks for the feedback everyone, and nice zoom capture Conor of the primary base.

Richard, it really was something in the 'flesh', one of those events which look amazing with the naked eye but which look lifeless on camera, in some cases an image isn't better than a 1000 words, glad I reacted quickly and got a record of it anyway, just wish I had been in the countyside to catch it over a field, trees, or open road. Next time I will be more switched on Smiley, cheers.
