Just found this on the BBC NI wesbite, a funnel cloud captured before sunset from Maghaberry, N. Ireland last Friday by John McConnell.
John said it lasted for 5 min's with movement seen in real time. A larger version of the image is on the NI gallery...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-11153807This is very unusual since the sky doesn't look solid or even like the base of a convective cell, a very unusual site indeed and a good case for John Tyrrell to look into. There must have been convergence over this part of NI that evening.
