I just heard about this hailstone this evening that fell in the Dakotas, don't know if anyone of you had seen anything on it. Simply amazing!

Thats a proper hailstone alright!!  Unbelievable forces at work to keep something this size and weight suspended within the cloud to enable it to grow to this size-very strong updrafts.  Thanks for this Richard.

Thanks for the link Richard, those are massive!, as Paul said - can you imagine the strength of that updraught - wow. I heard Mike Hollingshead chatting about this event, he got a few shots of the storm which produced that giant hail.

You'll have to set up a 'charity chase fund,Tyler 'Lol.  It was a good season right to the end. Massive hailstone and as Paul & Martin mentions I wonder what the updraught velocity was  ?
