Conor I spent the night at Lough Fea but unfortunately no NLC displays appeared at all which was strange. However before dawn we watched the golden coloured crescent Moon rise complete with intense golden glitter path splashed across the Lough which was a beautiful sight with Capella to the L and Jupiter to the R. Naturally the crescent is blown out in the exposure in order to catch the reflection. Note the Pleiades cluster close to the L of the Moon. It would have been a great place to shoot NLCs. The sky was very dark this night with fantastic star fields on view including the Milky Way, it seems the proper darker nights are not far away now so the NLC season will be coming to an end soon. It won't be long before Orion appears in the morning sky!

Excellent Martin i always like these type of shots with the reflections off the water. Your right about the darker nights because i did notice alot more stars showing up last night, pity about no NLCs in such a clear sky.

Thanks Paul, a real shame there were no NLCs on such a fine night, this has got to be the strangest season so far. John, that's an excellent shot with the 300mm lens!

Thanks very much John, next time it would be cool to get NLCs and crescent Moon reflections on the water there, however with bad weather on the way it seems I will have to wait.

Those are lovely shots Martin, great combination of so many objects. I really like the pink coloring in the cloud bank on the right.
Good closeup of the Pleiades John, the focus is right on. Great earthshine! Was hoping to catch the same but the fog didn't cooperate, and too lazy to drive inland.
