This is worth seeing. This video shows an incredible squall line storm lifting dust ahead of it. The driver of the car drives straight into it. You can make out the gust front and shelf above the dust. Check out how dark it gets. I would love to see something like this  Smiley. Thanks to Mike Hollingshead for sharing the video on his site (not taken by Mike though)

I've seen a dust storm and indeed been in it when it arrived. At the time photographic equipment was rather more precious than it is now and I put it all away realising the damage it could do.

This was when I stayed in the town of Parkes in New South Wales in December 2002 en route to the Total Solar Eclipse in Ceduna. The Horizon appeared a fuzzy orange just like the video and when the storm arrived it was a bit like fog only fog doesn't get stuck into your hair and teeth (yes, really) the same way that sand does. We did as all Australians do in such circumstances - we went to the pub until things calmed down  Smiley
