Watch Out For Strange Sunsets!

If you are a regular reader of www.spaceweather.com you may have noticed the news item about strange 'volcanic sunsets' observed from the US. I have a heard of an unconfirmed observation from the UK this evening so be on the alert, if we ever get a clear sky!.  We had some similar and dramatic sunsets from here dring feb.

That's the very one!. Very strange sky there with those wierd rays, I recall that image very well. I have only one image from that period but it shows the strange colours anyway.

I see there's now an animation on Spaceeather homepage, which indicates the movement of the volcanic ash in stratosphere, but ... only for August! According to their info, a an ash plume of ~5DU moved across Ukraine on Aug.20-21. I haven't noticed anything on that days (because I wasn't informed of it).

But there was something special on Sep.03. The sunset was not orange-yellow or orange-pink as usual, it was pink-violet in colours. Not very spectacular, but the violet colour was evident, and I was almost sure that was a volcanic sunset.  Pity, I hadn't my camera with me.
