This was taken while waiting to board the Fastcraft from Troon Harbour on Monday evening. I can see Iridescence, Crep rays, Virga, the Isle of Arran, Silhouetted boats and a sunset. So what shall I call it?? A while later I caught this from the boat. Sadly the observation deck was closed so this had to be shot through a dirty window. Using the widest aperture seems to have blurred out a lot of the crud though there's a very soft look to the whole thing! P.

Paul, I'm wondering if that first one is a "volcanic sunset"?

I did wonder myself John, though I didn't think the ashes had come this far by last Monday.
The weather is supposed to clear before sunset though it's going about it very slowly here - tonight may offer a good sunset and amazingly maybe even a bit of observing!
Paul.

I had forgotten about this thread Paul. Very atmospheric capture of clouds and rays!. I love the 2nd one with the mist...very nice Good and clear here at the min. I will be watching for any interesting sunsets and will try for Boattini as well as any interesting weather later. Power was out here last night until 03.00 but it was cloudy. It would have been cool observing in complete darkness. Fingers crossed for some stars tonight.

I liked much your #2 shot. Taking images through a window not always gives a bad result. Here is one of my shots while being in Crimea in August. It was taken through a bus window, but the landscapes were great overthere. On the photo: Rybachye village on the southern coast of Crimea (44.8N, 34.6E), behind - mt.Yanturuz (345m). Captured on Aug.06, at ~4PM.
