Synopsis
LOW pressure system 'Siglinde', situated over Scandinavia, will dominate the weather across the United Kingdom on Friday. A cold Polar Maritime airmass spreads across the country as the cold front clears the southeast right at the beginning of the forecast period.
Numerous showers are expected to develop quite widely, particularly in northern and western areas. The showers may merge into longer spells of rain associated with troughs at times, particularly across south Wales and central England during the late afternoon and evening hours.
The showers will be locally heavy, accompanied by hail and also a little electrical activity is possible, particularly as the showers cross the eastern side of both islands.
Showers will generally decay and become more isolated during the evening hours, with the exception of an occlusion over southern England which will slowly move southwards during the evening.
