These mallards are turning into great subjects John, they're so happy looking as well. The last shot is my fav with the lovely colours in the wing.

Great shots John! I did a 'spring clean' in our pond today, pulled out all the dead leaves, twigs and mush that have accumulated over the winter season. Sadly our pond aint big enough for ducks, I am pleased for your resident ducks though, would love to have some!

Great shots John, so very lucky to have such photogenic subjects close at hand! Is this their first time at your pond?

Thanks for comments.
Yes, Richard, first time we've had them here and yesterday there was another male and they both jumped on the female,my wife wasn't having that so sticking up for the female gender she went into the garden and the 'new' male flew off the other one was used to us so he stayed as did Mrs. Mallard. They must realise that it's safer here at night than by the brook or over on the big pond where they are vulnerable to foxy loxy, nothing can get into our garden if it can't fly - except for squirrels along the fence tops.
Mark-the pond is 19' x 10' with twin cascades but it does take some keeping up and there have been times I wondered if I should have had one this large- I must have lost my marbles when we had it built Lol..we have about 25 goldfish/Orrf in there.. I need a new UV filter every spring and one's due now.
The last photo, the female ,is my favourite too - I like it because it's so sharp and the azure blue is very striking. They're staying away today because I'm pressure hosing the patio etc. getting everything up together before I go to the US chasing .

Regarding storm chasing John, I was just watching The Weather Channel and they were talking about how much more intense storm chasing season ;;;can be in post El Nino Springs, which the U.S. is entering right now. Good luck when the trip comes along!

My thoughts too,Richard but one of the Tempest guides tells me that it's all about the Jet Stream not El Nino when I mentioned this back in 2008. I just think that it must have some influence and why I say this is that the last time El Nino was as strong as it has been this time in Nov/Dec 2009 , Oklahoma was hit hard. The strong El Nino was Nov/Dec 1998 and on May 3 1999 68 tornadoes went through Oklahoma ,one being an F5 (as was -now EF scale as you'll know ) If you include Kansas, then 74.(see attached link ) so, yes, agree,I think it will be a very active season, it's already kicked off well judging by some of the storms I've seen posted by the Cloud9 Tour people,as early as March 8. I arrive in Oklahoma City May 9 and depart May 23. I'm with Tempest Tours. http://www.nssl.noaa.gov/news/may3rd/outbreak.htmlThere's a lot more here-videos http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=oklahoma+tornado+outbreak+may+3+1999&hl=en&sa=G&tbs=vid:1&tbo=u&ei=ZrDGS4LmBKT60wTdo6i-Bg&oi=video_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CB8QqwQwAw
