Wow, what a day! Nearly missed it too, just a short clear interval after lunch ...
AR1054 has developed into a spot group visible with the naked eye (using eclipse glasses for safety, of course) - the first naked eye spot for a long time. The whole of the north of the solar disc is festooned with filaments of varying size & shape. But all of this is eclipsed by an exceptionally large & bright prominence on the west limb, clearly the same feature which was a prominent filament yesterday.
