Wonders of the solar system, a new series starts on BBC2 on Sunday night at 9:00pm- should be worth a look.

The presenter is Professor Brian Cox and he does a great job at making complex subjects understandable to most viewers ,he doesn't look old enough to be a professor and doesn't look like you typical image of a professor. He presented a science programme about 6 months ago on 'time and space' I got a bit lost after a while Lol.

It was a great programme, very refreshing and stylish. I will be watching future episodes for certain. There's an intro youtube video for this series which I must post, it shows Brian Cox out storm chasing pointing up at Whale's Mouth under a shelf cloud with c-gs hitting down. Looking forward to that episode.
Edit: here's the vid

That was my immediate thought, too. Only just seen this thread so will endeavour to watch it this Sunday. Thanks for the YouTube link Martin - though I'm not sure whether the background music in that trailer will do anything to 'promote' the series!

Thanks for the suggestion Martin. As the sky has decided to remain cloudy this evening I've just watched the first programme on the IPlayer. The presenter is Professor Brian Cox and he does a great job at making complex subjects understandable to most viewers
Exactly my thoughts too John. The style of presentation, making it very easy to understand the matter being discussed, together with the excellent graphics/images & background music, is bound to appeal to a very wide range of people regardless of their relative level on knowledge. I particularly liked both the solar eclipse and the section on the aurora and will definitely be watching the next edition tomorrow.

Did anyone catch this tonight? Thought it was brilliant, especially learning about Enceladus, the tiny moon with a lot going on for it. Very impressive looking skies during his storm chase too-excellent.

I made sure not to miss it Paul, brilliant episode, I too enjoyed the storm chasing section. That was a good Whale's Mouth display, if only Brian knew clouds like that are visible from the UK every year

For anyone who missed the original transmission last March or wish to see it again, I see that that the series is being repeated - starting tonight on BBC FOUR. Details and times can be found here.
