Strange sunsets have been reported across parts of the UK on Jan 26th, atmospheric expert Les Cowley believes they could be a type of Polar Stratospheric Cloud (PSC) and has asked for observers be on the alert more displays in the near future!, could this be the year that we get to see the rare Nacreous (Mother of Pearl) Clouds?

Hey Tyler, good job you tipped off Mike, I was thinking of doing the same thing myself. Yes, those PSC 2 clouds are awesome, the Nacreous kind, I've never seen them before. The PSC type 1 are being reported at the moment but type 2 could be possible in the near future if we can get the atmosphere colder, that would make a nice treat to start 2010. Keep an eye out ovee NE  Smiley

Paul, I'm going with fri as the next clear day so I will be on the alert from then on. It's good just to have something to photograph. Best of luck.

I'm glad that you posted this Martin as i couldn't help but notice how fiery red the sky was on Tuesday evening. I would have taken a photo of it but my Canon is currently being repaired. Definitely a beautiful sight though!
