Great shots John, now I know what a Fieldfare looks like, I think I have seen them here too but wasn't sure until I saw your images. Thanks for sharing them.

Hey Martin, the first two are Fieldfare and the third is a Redwing. Keep a look out, they are not that unusual in winter in Ireland but they seem to be more abundant than ever at the moment. These guys are really agressive and will fight off other thrushes, blackbirds, and even magpies to claim the best berry bushes.

Superb shots. I heard that these birds would be about because of the severe weather we're experiencing. I haven't seen any in our garden yet - the road near us is called Fieldfare so there's hope yet Lol.

Good shots John... I think I saw a tree of these the other day, and was wondering what I'd seen.

Excellent shots John, saw one of these fellas today raiding the berries in my back garden. They've been around for a week or more, didnt know what it was until I seen your post.

JohnC - Yes you are quite correct it is a Redwing. I just assumed it was a female Fieldfare. In fact the male and female of both Redwing and Fieldfare don't differ that much. I have corrected the text in the previous posts. Well spotted - someones had their Weetabix
