I have some interest about the weather in QLD, Australia. Not all year long, but only in mid-November. Now you have probably guessed that I talk about a total eclipse, which will take place exactly in 3 years (ok, exactly in 1098 days). In my opinion, that's the only one reasonable place to travel until USA in 2017 (tell me if I'm not right... Pacific ocean next July, none in 2011, Equatorial Africa in 2013, Spitzbergen in 2015, Indonesia in 2016 - any of those isn't a good choice if notice the weather factor). And it isn't a lot of time left... well, if one will thoroughly prepare to view the totality in Kangoroo land.
Since Septemeber I have gathered some info about this eclipse, but as it refers more to the Astronomy forum, let me not post it in here & right now, but take at the moment take a short look of the weather conditions.
Need to say that there is a good climate analyse available somewhere on the web - I'll try to post the link to it later.
Now (and next years too) I try to simply monitor the real weather conditions during a few days around Nov.14, by viewing satellite images, as well as searching for some nice webcams on the shore near Cairns.
Remember, that the eclipse will start just after sunrise - that is approx. 6 hours local time = 20h UT = 22h EET. Therefore all the further talk is only about the morning weather in that area.
Novemeber is the first month of rainy season there, but I hope (and I see from various sat. images) that there will be few cloudy days, especially in the western part of the CYP (Cape York Peninsula).
Today, Nov.12 (tonight in Europe) the weather in Cairns is [what we hope not to occurre] cloudy & rainy. Not as much as a tropical storm, but there is a complete cloud cover in Cairns area (although partly cloudy in the western CYP).
