Severe Flooding In Maghera

Just been to the Moyola River near Tobermore, it's phenomenal, the worst I can remember seeing it. Quite a crowd have gathered to take images. Water is right up to the arches and into the fields with some flooding on the roads. Fire trucks and police are on the roads. Nearly destroyed my camera trying to get images.

RTE TV forecast just mentioned intense thunderstorms in W Ireland.

A train was detrailed in Dublin by a mud slide.

This has got world wide attention. News 24 has featured it.

Yikes! I just went down to the chinese and passed the Inver River on the way - normally not much more than a stream but fuller than I've ever seen it today!

I was down at the Moyola a few weeks ago and the highest water was 6". Normally you can stand under that bridge on the bank and the ceiling would be 8 to 10 ft above your head.

Wow!    Great photos and video! It is a quite serious flood!  I hope no buildings were under water.

Liked the tree tops bathing in the river. How dirty is the water!

Many cows died on the flood and some people had to be rescued from cars on the roads. We had a months rainfall in just under 24 hours. It took 3 days to clear a major road in the City of Belfast. The river was very muddy and full of dangerous eddies. That's the worst I have seen that river in 30 years. Very glad to have been there though to see it

A flood in W Ukraine in late July was more powerful than in Ireland. Maybe you seen something on TV. Water level on rivers Dnister and Prut rised up to 5-9 meters.

That looks very nasty and similar to the N. Ireland floods of Aug 16th. The rivers here exceeded 15 ft in height. The 5-9m from Ukraine looks very serious.
