Occasionally there is a strange bright object in the sky today, I think it might be the Sun  Grin

CaK: AR1026 (the "big one") still present as an extensive network of plage, now quite close to the SW limb. AR1027 visible as a small & weak area of plage right on the NW limb.

2009 Oct 01,1207 UT. Coronado PST CaK @ f/20

White Light: No spots or pores visible. AR1026 visible as an extensive but very weak patch of faculae.

Ha: AR1026 still appears to be fairly active, with several bright plage patches embedded in a large disturbed area. AR1027 hard to see. Nothing else of any consequence on the disk; a small prominence on the E limb and a row of very small spike proms pointing at strange angles on the SW limb, possibly associated with AR1026.

Aye, it's been awful ... from Sep 20th to Oct 2nd (inclusive) approx. 30 mins sunshine total. A bit more than that yesterday but I wasn't able to use it as it was in short pieces between heavy showers & the Northerly gale was strong enough to make sea spray a serious problem between the showers.

A bit better today, still some showers around but a lot less wind and the clear intervals are long enough to be useful.

There is little activity on the disc. Blank in white light, just a thin remnant of AR1026 right on the western limb visible in CaK and Ha. But the prominences are really good; there is a very large, bright "hedgerow" on the NW limb and numerous small prominences, some fairly bright, right round the limb. Transparency good (between drifting clouds), seeing moderate to poor.

SM40 DMK31 @f10

After that the handset for the EQ6 Pro came to a rather nasty accident - it's dead Sad  I'm waiting for word back from some of the retailers as to the best way forward to fix it...
