Some shots taken yesterday at the pond. My old friend the Heron was back, and I had some fun watching the juvenile Herring gulls performing. They would launch out of the water, fly a few yards and then dive in and immediately repeat the process - it was fascinating to watch. Take off: Fliight: Dive: and Splash: Fighter escort - a juvenile Herring Gull follows old man heron with a beak full of bread: Old man Heron stakes his claim: King o' the rock: For more details visit my Flickr page www.flickr.com/photos/jcmurphy

Lovely set there John, I like no 1 with that silly expressionn on it face.
As an off topic slightly when I was out in the garden imaging the ISS this evening I was buzzed by a lovely big Barn Owl, He saw me in the gardin and when I whistled at him he came back to investigate did a couple of laps about 1mt above my head and then landed on the ridge tile. Unfortunately he didn't give me the chance to get his photo took. Lovely to see nature taking an interest like.

Now, these have cheered me up. I've just come from John's cemetery photos.
I think you should give your friend ,this Heron ,a name ,John. Wonderful photos and you got the last diving shot before it submerged just right. I like that too,'' fighter escort' ..it looks just like that doesn't it. Reminds me of the old Stealth bomber that flew over here after an air display at Fairford some years ago and either side were fighter escorts.
