Stunning colours in the sky last night... I just can't see the western horizon to capture the best of it  [smilie=20_grumpy.gif] still

Beautiful colors John, and I love the tree composition in the foreground. I'm the opposte here, trees and ocean horizon to the west and hills and trees the other directions, We'll take what we can get with images like this!!

Yes, it was a great sunset. I really should have got out there but the shoulder was playing up and I knew I really  shouldn't be driving . Nice capture.

Cheers guys.

Nice capture Paul, very similar.

Richard, I had to climb out onto the low flat roof at the back to get high enough to get over the hedge and round most of the trees at the end of the garden...

Those are all great, colorful shots. John, in about a week or so, the sun at my place will start setting behind the firs on the SW side of my property. I'll actually have to get up and off my porch and drive somewhere to see any sunsets until next April or so when the sun moves back far enough to the north . It'll give me some exercise anyway.

Super shots John.
We've had a few pink sunsets like that here in Dublin during the last few days, long may the Indian Summer last.
It's been a while since I did a sunset shot, but you've inspired me to get back into it. Here's an old one from Dungarvan in Waterford:

Great shot John, I love how the reflected sun dabbles across the stern of the anchored boat!

No, no filters and little or no processing, the scene really was like that, very orange.

All Lovely photos. That shot of the boat is  truly outstanding. I'd have that  framed on the wall  at home.

Lol..Hey, John..you beat me to it. Poor Richard having to leave his porch. When you bought the property, Richard I hope you got a discount for not being able to see sunsets from September to  April Lol.

How high are you above sea level and how far will you have to walk (I assume you'll be walking) to the SW of your property ?  It's very easy for me to get to the SW of my property - it's 97 yards Lol.

John and John, All I can do is laugh about the trees. The trees actually serve a purpose. They somewhat block the 100 mph winds that we get 3-4 times a winter with our big Pacific storms. They keep a lot more of my shingles on the roof than on the ground. And beyond my 100' trees to the sw and s, my neighbors are even taller, he even has a few Redwoods mingled in. I hate to say that I actually removed  about 15 logging trucks of trees when we built are home. We're at about 700' in elevation here, 1000' from the beach. Walking won't do me any good,  this entire area is just homesites cut out of the forest. But a 3 minute drive to the north gets me to the beach, and a 5 minute drive south gets me to Cape Sebastian where on a clear day I can see probably 75 miles in either direction along the coast. The trees are just a mild nuisance, except when it comes to stargazing, that'a a different subject altogether.
