I heard a Radio 4 programme a week or so ago  in which a retired  Det.Sergeant from the Met. police (fraud squad) had set up a site whereby you can enter your details and it will search and tell you if you are on any data base of criminals. I entered my name, address(first line, post code and Email address (that's all) and it came up with 'no trace ' so according to that no dodgy people have my details. From what I heard  on the radio interview if it comes up with a 'yes' then you pay £10 and they will supply you with the details . It's obviously a business for the guy (it has to be paid for like everything else) but his motives are altruistic.
