Sorry - I lied, its more heron photography. Grin
This time I thought I'd wait and try to catch him in some unusual poses.
Also the cynets on the pond are now down to 4. One has gone missing, I think the Heron may have done him in. There is some evidence around the feet of the heron in the photos below, and having done a bit of research it turns out they will kill and eat cygnets and ducklings also. Check out this link: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-456875/The-luck-duckling-snack-heron.html

OK here's something completely different, well nearly.

Yeah, the Heron looks like he has had his meal for the day.

I know  Grin - I'm just fascinated by the heron, he's the dominant life form. He scares the hell out of the swans.

Just to show that there are other life forms on the pond here is a few snaps from the other night.

Tufted ducks doing their thing - I love the startled look in the hens eyes.

A Moorhen - these are hard to get close to.

What an amazing shot - the tufted ducks..er...doing their stuff. You were so lucky to catch them 'at it' lol..

Yes, that heron looks to be  real character.  I think we should give him/her ?? a name and honorary membership to this forum. You could be it's sponsor, John.  Smiley

Moorhens and coots are quite similar I think -a lot of  non-wildfowl people get them confused but I was very close to a coot's nest today with both in attendance so there's obviously a difference in temperament if the moorhen is so difficult to get close to.

These wildfowl/heron photos are of such a high standard too. Looking forward to the next set.
