Graet shots John. What are the odds the little one will survive with the other wildlife around there. Are there many predators? Terrible question but just curioius. We have quail on our property and every season out of the 10-12 chicks born it seems only maybe 4-5 survive, of course there is a big difference between living on land and water!

thanks Richard. I think the odds are pretty good that most of the brood will make it, it may look like only one, but there were 4 or 5 of them. There aren't many predators around there, the odd BoP that whizzes through. As for other predators, I think the wardens probably keep a watch out.

Lovely set of images John, I really like the unusual angle in the first image, gives a different perspective on things. Great stuff.

Excellent shots John. We had 5 cygnets at our local pond and now we're down to 4, I think the heron may have had something to do with it. He can certainly give the swans a scare. I've never seen a male mute with cygnets leg it so fast. I'll post some later.
