Now (at last!) I have prepared my equipment for the eclipse: Orion solar filter (recently bought) & 700/76mm reflector at 35x. Here is a test shot:

Now I need only to wait... (weather here in Poltava must be clear)

Good job Roman - if we get clouded out please post your pictures here - it might be all we get to see!

Good luck all!

Thanks Paul.
This will be my first eclipse photos of good quality. That's what I had before:

Partial eclipse of 2005 Oct.03 (29%), I used a mobile phone camera (with only 0.04 Mpix) to capture the Sun's projection

The weather forecast hasn't been changed for Ukraine (clear), but it turned a bit better for British Isles - it may be clear in central, N and S England. But don't be so pessimistic  Smiley - some gaps in the clouds are possible in Ireland

Here's a mosaic I made from the March 2006 partial eclipse which I had on file. Images taken with a wee
cheapy camera handheld to the scope!

Thanks, Martin

Well done with that eclipse, John!  Smiley In 2006 I had a much more bigger phase (0.76), but I was totally clouded out during the eclipse. The only thing I remember - it got more darker outside when the eclipse was >70%, and I was watching it on TV broadcast from Turkey.

Yep, seconded - it actually looks like there will be plenty enough gaps in the clouds for us to see this one!

Good luck all,

Paul.
